Sanford and Son “Fred Sanford, Legal Eagle” (S3, E15)
Here’s a clip from one of the funniest, most-cutting edge episodes in the series. And I’m not a fan of Katt Williams’ standup comedy (though I am a huge fan of his activism), it isn’t difficult to draw a cultural line from the comedy of Redd Foxx to that of Katt Williams.
It’s worth noting that: (1) famed director Bud Yorkin got his start in television and film on Sanford and Son, working with producer Norman Lear; and (2) the series was based on a British sitcom entitled Steptoe and Son, which aired on the BBC from 1962 to 1965.
Le bureau des légendes “The Bureau” Canal+ (Fandango)
My wife and I watched (and loved) the first season of The Agency a Paramount + Showtime spy series, before we learned the series was based on a French television series broadcast from 2015 to 2020.
Schwarzer Kies “Black Asphalt (1961)
This is one of the bleakest noir films ever made. The story features a German trucker who resells black market black gravel stolen from an American Air Force base near the fictitious village of Sohnen. The film’s tragic arc begins its downward curve when the trucker reunites with a former lover, now married to an American officer.
